In March, Roadmonkey returns to the land of Rubén Darío, one of Latin America’s most revered poets, to explore & hike two spectacular volcanoes - one of them still quite active - and then build a kitchen for a school in the northern highlands near Honduras.
Our expeditions are more than mere guided tours. We allow serendipity and spontaneity into the schedule. We bring a small group of thoughtful, like-minded adventurers together. If you want an international experience that you’ll remember for years to come, keep reading.

Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without ever noticing it, live your way into the answer. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Our adventure begins in the colonial city of Grenada, about 1 hour south of Managua, and takes you to a volcanic lake for a swim and lunch en route to the Isla de Ometepe: the island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua from which rise the twin volcanoes, one dormant, one still active. For four days, we’ll explore the volcanoes and the island they form. Then we’ll drive north to complete our 3-day kitchen-building project with our nonprofit partner, Fabretto Foundation.
Return to Top | Get an InvitationIn partnership with the Fabretto Foundation, the Roadmonkey team will work with a local community to restore a community kitchen. The school relies on the kitchen to supply the much needed Fabretto school lunch program.
